Canadian astronauts began flying on American shuttles. Canada became a participant in the International Space Station
project and since then Canadian astronauts have also begun flying on Russian Soyuz spacecraft.
Marc Garneau was the first Canadian astronaut to make a second and third space flight. Two Canadian astronauts
have made three space flights each, and four have made two flights each.
Chris Hadfield was the first Canadian astronaut to perform a spacewalk. Only four Canadian astronauts
have performed spacewalks. All were in American spacesuits. Dafydd Williams performed three spacewalks
(the most among Canadian astronauts) for a total of 17 hours and 47 minutes.
A total of twelve Canadian astronauts have completed 20 spaceflights: four on Russian (USSR) Soyuz spacecraft,
14 on shuttles, one on the US SpaceX Crew Dragon, and one on the Orion spacecraft orbiting the Moon.
The longest space flight among Canadian astronauts was made by David Saint-Jacques - 203 days 15 hours 17 minutes
(4887 hours 17 minutes).
A total of eleven Canadian astronauts have completed 19 space flights: four of them on Russian (USSR) Soyuz
spacecraft, 14 on shuttles, and one on the US SpaceX Crew Dragon.
